University of Maryland Adjunct Professor Rod J. Rosenstein has been nominated to fill a seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Rosenstein is currently the United States Attorney for the District of Maryland. As the chief federal law enforcement officer in Maryland, the United States Attorney is responsible for prosecuting all federal criminal cases and prosecuting and defending civil cases in which the United States is a party. Mr. Rosenstein was an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Maryland from 1997 to 2001. He has prosecuted a wide range of crimes in federal district court and also briefed and argued cases in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
