The Thurgood Marshall Law Library has recently purchased the documentary “Maxed Out.” This thought provoking documentary explores the influence and negative effects of credit card debt. The film, presented in a “Michael Moore” like style, also explores the marketing and customer recruitment efforts of the banking industry along with the aggressive but legal tactics of collection agencies and debt consolidation firms.
With a liberal use of older documentaries, news broadcasts and talking heads “Maxed Out” is an entertaining and sobering look at how easy it is to acquire debt and how difficult it can be to get free of it.
“Maxed Out” is available to be viewed in the library – Media HG1643.M394 2007.
