Before you begin your summer job, and while you're working, be sure to check out the Library's guide to Successful Summer Strategies: Research in the Real World.
In addition to providing general tips on research in the real world environment, there are sections on different types of legal materials, such as statutes, cases, administrative law and local law. Each of these offers tips as well as links to the main sources.
