Mr. Nugent is Principal Counsel to the Health Occupations Prosecution and Litigation Division in the Office of the Attorney General. Previously, Mr. Nugent has served as Staff Attorney, Assistant Attorney General, Senior Counsel for Litigation, and Deputy Counsel to the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Mr. Nugent has handled disciplinary cases against health care professionals before all of Maryland’s health occupations licensing boards as well as a broad range of civil litigation in State and federal court. He serves as a member of the National Attorneys General Training and Research Institute (“NAGTRI”) Faculty for trial litigation and deposition skills training. Prior to joining the Office of the Attorney General, Mr. Nugent served as an assistant public defender in Baltimore City.
Mr. Nugent received a B.A. from the Penn State University and a J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Maryland and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
