Professor Markovs is the Deputy County Attorney for Montgomery County, Maryland. He represents the County in matters with State and Federal governments, provides advice to elected and appointed officials, and represents the County in high profile State and Federal court litigation and administrative proceedings. He is also responsible for supervising attorneys and staff and serves as County Attorney in the County Attorney’s absence.
Professor Markovs is admitted to the bars of Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia. He is a member of many bar associations including the American Bar Association (Sections-Litigation, Construction, and Public Contract Law) and the Maryland State Bar Association (Sections-Litigation and Construction Law). He is a former Chair of the MSBA Litigation Section Council. Professor Markovs joined Montgomery County’s Office of the County Attorney in 2007 after 18 years in private practice handling complex construction, commercial and bankruptcy litigation. He is a frequent lecturer on litigation, construction and commercial law issues for clients and the business community.
