Connie Beals is the Assistant Dean of Admissions of the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Dean Beals joined the School of Law in 2005 as Executive Director of Admissions. In her expanded role as the Dean of Admissions she oversees all functions of the Office of Admissions and partners with deans and directors to set strategic goals that have resulted in increased School standing nationally.
After graduating from the Evening Division Program at the University of Maryland School of Law with a Certification in Health Law, Dean Beals spent two years as the Deputy Director of the Center for Dispute Resolution at the University of Maryland (C-DRUM). Combining her interest in medicine and law and previous experience as a Health Advocacy Specialist in the Consumer Protection Division of the Office of the Attorney General, Dean Beals helped to organize and administer a collaborative Medical Malpractice Roundtable.
During her tenure as Deputy Director of C-DRUM, Dean Beals created and established the Center on the University of Maryland campus in Baltimore, and spearheaded various conflict resolution projects across the State. Following her time at C-DRUM, Dean Beals worked for a general practice firm as an associate handling family law and litigation matters.
Prior to law school, Dean Beals worked extensively in clinical medicine, primarily diagnostic imaging, as a clinician, manager and liaison. Dean Beals has served on the LSAC Misconduct and Irregularities Subcommittee and is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association.
