Mr. Fitch is Director of Forensic Services for Maryland’s Mental Hygiene Administration, Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland Medical School, and Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Maryland Law School. From 1982-1994, Mr. Fitch was an Associate Professor at the University of Virginia Law School and Director of the Forensic Evaluation Training and Research Center at the University’s Institute of Law, Psychiatry and Public Policy. From 1978-1982, Mr. Fitch was a Research Attorney with the Institute on Mental Disability and the Law at the National Center for State Courts.
Mr. Fitch has published numerous journal articles, book chapters, and monographs on a variety of psycholegal issues and has chaired or served on committees of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Bar Association, the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors, and other national and state organizations. In 1995, Mr. Fitch received the “Amicus Award” from the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law for his scholarship and service in mental health and the law.
