M. Teresa Schmiedeler currently serves as the Director of Pro Bono and Public Services Initiatives at the University of Maryland School of Law. Ms. Schmiedeler also is the Asper Administrator for the School of Law’s Asper Fellowship Program. This program offers law students the opportunity to obtain credit for supervised law-related work with state and federal judges and with attorneys employed by government agencies and public interest organizations. She is responsible for operational and policy matters related to the University of Maryland School of Law’s Public Interest Loan Repayment Program. Prior to her position at Maryland, Ms. Schmiedeler worked as the assistant director and public interest coordinator at a D.C. law school and also practiced law for seven years as a Legal Aid attorney in Connecticut and Missouri. She is an active member of the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) Public Service Committee and Advisor to the Maryland Public Interest Law Project (MPILP).
