Biography

Jennifer Smith, J.D., is a Ryan H. Easley Research Fellow at the Thurgood Marshall Law Library, University of Maryland Carey School of Law. She assists law school faculty in researching diverse legal scholarship issues and providing editorial assistance. Jennifer received her J.D. from the University of Maryland Carey School of Law and was recognized for her scholarship and writing with the Joseph Bernstein Prize for Legal Writing for her article A “Just and Fair Solution”: Creating an Environment for Resolving Nazi Era Art Restitution Claims Equitably. Jennifer was Editor-in-Chief of the Maryland Journal of International Law and served as grant-writer for the Maryland Public Interest Law Project for two years. During law school, Jennifer was a research assistant to Professor Michael Millemann of the Carey School of Law, researching issues concerning the aging prison population, and Professor Leigh Anenson of the University of Maryland Smith School of Business, researching issues of equity law. Prior to law school, Jennifer was Collections and Exhibitions Manager and Assistant Curator at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. Jennifer holds an Art History degree from James Madison University’s School of Art, Design, and Art History, with a focus on Italian Renaissance female artists and Fin-de-siècle French artistic movements.
