Biography

Judge Gauvey is a retired United States Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the District of Maryland (Baltimore), now on part time recall status with the Court. She served on the Court for over 18 years and previously was a litigation partner at Venable, Baetjer and Howard, an Assistant Attorney General and Chief of Litigation with the Maryland Office of the Attorney General in the civil division and in the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and as a lawyer for the Legal Aid Bureau in Baltimore. In those capacities, Judge Gauvey worked with many  interns, law clerks and younger lawyers. She is active in the community, serving on the boards of the Free State Legal Project, the Enoch Pratt Free Library and the Job Opportunities Task Force.
