Kathryn C. Macdonald is a Senior Trial Attorney with the Environmental Enforcement Section of the United States Department of Justice. She represents the United States in the prosecution of complex civil actions to enforce federal environmental statutes, mainly CERCLA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. She previously served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Environmental Protection Bureau of the New York State Attorney Generalís Office in New York City. Prior to that, she was an environmental litigation associate at private law firms in Princeton, New Jersey and Albany, New York.
Ms. Macdonald has also been a legal instructor at the U.S. Attorney Generalís National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on hazardous waste law and litigation.
She received a B.A. in Marine Geology and International Relations from Colgate University. She earned her J.D. with a certificate in environmental law from Tulane University School of Law. While in law school, she was a member of the Tulane Environmental Law Journal, and a student attorney at the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic.
Ms. Macdonald received the 2012 Arthur S. Flemming Award that recognizes annually 10-12 outstanding federal employees who made significant and extraordinary contributions to the federal government.
