Professor Fleischer received her BA and MA from the University of Michigan and her JD from Boston University (1973). After practicing, teaching and writing about environmental law she began her 20 year Congressional career as Legislative Assistant to Senator William Proxmire, Counsel to the House Subcommittee on Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Committee of the Committee on Government Reform and Oversight (chairman Mike Synar), Senior Legislative Counsel to Senator Bill Bradley and General Counsel to Senator Byron Dorgan. Since 1999 she has served as Washington counsel/legislative representative for environmental groups. She also teaches the yearly Real World Lobbying for Lawyers Continuing Legal Education course sponsored by the District of Columbia Bar and has participated in an ABA panel on Lobbying for Non-Profit entities. She is also the recipient of the Award for Extraordinary Conservation Merit of the Wilderness Society.
