Biography

The UM Carey Law community mourns the loss of its friend and colleague, Professor Emeritus Abraham Dash, who died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at his home in Bowie, MD.

Professor Dash joined the faculty in 1970 after many years in public service with the federal government. Practicing primarily as a litigator, he served as an appellate attorney with the National Labor Relations Board, a trial attorney with the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice and deputy chief counsel to the Comptroller of the Currency in the U.S. Treasury Department.

While a member of the faculty at UM Carey Law, Professor Dash taught courses in administrative law, criminal procedure and the legal profession. He also served as a consultant for the Joint Committee of the Maryland Judicial Conference and Maryland State Bar Association to implement the American Bar Association’s Standards for Criminal Justice, the Committee on the Maryland District Court and the University of Maryland Court Management Institute.

Professor Dash was a reporter/consultant for the Maryland State Bar Association Committee on State Prosecutors, a member of the faculty of the National Judicial College and a guest lecturer for the Federal Administrative Law Judges Conference.
