Mary Ellen Hayward

Dr. Mary Ellen Hayward received her PhD. from Boston University in 1977. She served as the guest curator of the rowhouse exhibit at the old Peale Museum in 1981 and then as a curator and grants coordinator at the Maryland Historical Society from 1982 through 1996. She is presently a free-lance architectural historian, preservation consultant, and museum consultant. Dr. Hayward is the co-author of The Baltimore Rowhouse (Princeton Architectural Press, 1999), with Charles Belfoure, and co-editor, with Frank Shivers of The Architecture of Baltimore: An Illustrated History, (JHUP, 2004). She is currently working on a book about the alley houses of Baltimore for the Johns Hopkins University Press.
