Maryland's faculty are national leaders in a wide range of subject areas. University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law faculty are prolific scholars in a variety of legal fields, publishing more than 30 books in the past three years. From groundbreaking scholarly works in such emerging areas of study as public choice theory, to the most respected textbooks and casebooks in fields like environmental law and torts, our faculty are producing high impact scholarship.

Engaged scholarship is predicated on the idea that major advances in knowledge tend to occur when human beings consciously work to solve the central problems confronting their society. The University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law's faculty are pursuing this goal through their ambitious scholarly agendas. Their commitment to innovative specialty programs, outstanding clinical legal education, and public service in addition to a rigorous core curriculum means that students have many opportunities to actively participate in and benefit from this strong intellectual community. Another vital aspect of our law school's scholarly engagement in the pursuit of solutions to societal problems is the rich array of conferences and other academic programs we convene each year.
