The Clinical Law student work spaces have 87 computers spread over six labs and are available for students to use for work on their cases. All computers are equipped with Microsoft Office and casework software.
The Tydings & Rosenberg Technology Assisted Learning (TAL) Center, located on Level 4 of the law library, is designed to provide law students with a multi-purpose computer facility equipped to meet the computing needs of law students. Computers and scanners are avaialble. A wide variety of software including Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, access to Lexis and Westlaw legal databases, and other tools and services is installed on each machine.
The TAL Center may be used only by University of Maryland, Baltimore students, faculty, and staff.
The TAL Center is open during library hours, closing 15 minutes before the library. The equipment is available on a first come, first served basis. However, when demand increases prior to certain assignments, we reserve the right to give priority to people using the computers for those assignments.

This lab is equipped with the Microsoft XP operating system, Office XP and a video lan. This lab is used for training purposes only. It functions as an innovative computer equipped classroom. A wide variety of software is readily accessible from each work station for word processing, online legal research, and computer-assisted instruction. Instruction in specific computer skills and in the application of computer technology to the study and practice of law are currently provided in this lab. Law Students receive help with legal writing from fellow students, with the guidance of a faculty advisor. There are 2 computers available for use in the writing center with Word Processing capabilities. E-mail us at writing@law.umaryland.edu.
