A Message from the Co-Chairs

Dear Friends and Fellow Graduates,

As members of the University of Maryland School of Law Board of Visitors, we visit the law school often and learn firsthand about the wonderful things happenings there. For example, a continuing succession of conferences attracts lawyers, academics, and other experts from across the country. The dean and faculty have testified before Congress and the Maryland Legislature on important matters like genetic nondiscrimination, the Clean Water Act, voter fraud, and the Superfund environmental program. And the Environmental Law Program has forged an international network of law clinics working on cross-border pollution. Students are taking notice. Almost 4,000 applicants vied for a place in the entering class, nearly doubling applications from just five years ago.

Accomplishments like these have inspired us to serve as co-Chairs of the School of Law's Making an Impact campaign. The campaign has already secured more than $24 million in gifts and pledges. But to reach our ambitious goals of raising $50 million and doubling alumni participation in giving to the school, we need your help.

Private philanthropy has never been more important to the law school and its progress. Your investment reaches far beyond the walls of its wonderful building, and lasts long after this year's students graduate and pass the bar. Your gifts help make Maryland one of the leading law schools in the country, touching the lives of our students and the community in ways that will make an impact for years to come.

Please join us by making your gift today.
