Annual Giving
The Making an Impact campaign aims to do more than raise money. Its goals also include enlivening the law school's connection with its graduates, and expanding our opportunities to make contributions that go beyond financial support. Graduates spend countless hours coaching, counseling, advising, and mooting our national championship-winning Trial Team to prepare them for the competition. They participate in the Mentoring Program, helping new students make the challenging transition to the rigors of law school. And they enrich students' educational experience by visiting classrooms to share their expertise about the new corporate code of South Africa, changes in the laws surrounding estate planning, the rules of evidence in Maryland and federal court, and countless other areas.
One concrete expression of the law school's strengthened connection with its graduates will be, by the end of the campaign, doubling the number of Maryland Law alumni who make an annual contribution to the School. All gifts made from now until 2012 will count toward the campaign's goals for both participation and dollars raised.
Additional goals for the campaign include:
- Doubling participation in alumni giving;
- Increasing the law school's endowment to at least $75 million from its current $43 million;
- Increasing annual giving from $500,000 to $1 million per year;
- Building membership in the Maryland Law School Club, open to those who contribute $1,000 or more annually, from 175 to 350.
