Volunteer Opportunities

Maryland Law Alumni are active volunteers in a host of community service, pro bono and School of Law related projects. Each year, hundreds of alumni volunteer countless hours helping students at the law school, and our alumni are a great source of pride for our students.

Alumni volunteers help the school in more ways than we can count. Some of those ways include:

Serving on Boards
Coaching the Trial Team
Interviewing students for mock interviews
Assisting students in the Clinical Law Program
Serving as advisors to student organizations
Speaking at conferences, symposiums and panel discussions
Hosting alumni events

There are many ways to be involved in the life of the law school, ranging from academic to philanthropic. Every effort to stay connected and build community makes a difference. By no means exhausting the list of possible programs, below are just a few descriptions of alumni volunteer positions that are currently available

Become a Mentor

This program is designed to put first-year law students in contact with alumni who can help shape the professional foundation of a future fellow member of the bar. Learn more.

Job Shadow

This program seeks to provide current students with a "real world" perspective about what they might experience in a normal work day after law school. One student will accompany a graduate for either a full- or half-day job shadow. Learn more.

Lunch With A Lawyer

This program seeks to build connections between alumni and students in an informal but personal setting. A group of 3-4 students will meet with a graduate over lunch (or dinner). Learn more.

Alumni Event Chair

The Alumni Association sponsors numerous events, including but not limited to the Annual Honors Banquet, regional alumni receptions and reunions. These events are an excellent opportunity for alumni who do not often get back to the law school to stay in touch with classmates and colleagues. We are always looking for new and exciting events that interest our alumni, so please feel free to suggest a new event idea.
