Consumer Protection / Attorney General's Office Clinic (4/4, 5, 7)

This Clinic will be offered in spring semester, 2017 as a one-semester clinic. Students can choose to take it either for 5 or 7 credits, but students who either are selecting 7 credits and/or who took, or will be taking, the Consumer Protection course will receive admission preference. The Clinic satisfies the Cardin requirement. Professor Millemann will help to supervise students who will be placed in the Consumer Protection Division of the State Attorney Generalís Office or with Assistant Attorneys General who work in the State Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation.

Through the classes and legal work, the students will gain valuable insights into the substance of Consumer Law and how the State Attorney Generalís Office seeks to enforce a broad variety of consumer laws that protect all Marylanders, especially low- and moderate-income families, including through litigation, administrative proceedings, and negotiations.

Students must be prepared for and participate in class and will keep a bi-weekly journal (one to two page entries).

Students who enroll in this clinic are encouraged to take one or more of the following: Consumer Protection (survey course), Business Associations, Bankruptcy, or Counseling and Negotiation.
