This course will explore intersection of gender and negotiation and teach practical negotiation skills. The class will have both theoretical and highly practical components. Topics to be covered include examination of how gender impacts negotiation (including but not limited to the current wage gap between men and women) and a review of the research regarding the benefit that accrue to women who negotiate for themselves. Students who enroll in this course will implement and discuss a series of practical negotiation exercises. They will be expected to complete two papers as well as a series of short reflection memos to memorialize their exercises and to form the basis for class discussion. Writing completed for this offering will not satisfy the Advanced Writing Requirement. Students may not take both this course and Negotiation.
