Master of Science in Homeland Security and Crisis Management Law

Enrolling now for classes beginning beginning Fall 2017

Need

Maryland Carey Law’s online MS in Homeland Security & Crisis Management Law prepares students to lead their institution’s response to crises with a special focus on the legal, regulatory and public issues associated with it.

Terrorist attacks, pandemics and other crises demand fast, effective responses from governments, medical facilities, educational institutions, non-profits and business.

Crises also require public and private organizations to coordinate successfully with emergency management partners and response teams. Working together, they must navigate swiftly through a maze of organizational structures, laws, regulations, directives, best practices and standard operating procedures.

Flexibility

The Master of Science in Homeland Security & Crisis Management Law is now offered exclusively online to provide a high quality learning experience in a flexible format for today's busy professionals.

Students will:

  • Work in an interactive, asynchronous online environment
  • Obtain valuable new skills with minimal disruption
  • Utilize instructor-to-student and student-to-student collaboration tools
  • Set their own schedules to manage class time and personal and professional obligations
  • Be introduced to a variety of interactive visual presentations to achieve learning objectives
  • Engage and network with expert professors and peers
  • Receive 24/7 technical support

Focus

After completing the first semester of core courses, students will take in-depth survey courses in Homeland Security and Crisis Management in their second semester, followed in their third semester by seminars with Homeland Security and Crisis Management practitioners covering such topics as:

  • Emergency Management
  • Emergency Public Health Response
  • Cybersecurity
  • Homeland Security and Counterterrorism

The program culminates in a capstone project in which students focus on a practical challenge in their chosen field under the guidance of a faculty or practitioner advisor.

All courses will be taught by members of the Maryland Carey Law faculty as well as experts from the University of Maryland’s Center for Health and Homeland Security and other practitioners.
