Maryland Law Review

Submissions

ATTENTION AUTHORS: The Maryland Law Review is now accepting submissions for the Volume 69 (2009-2010).  Please read further for our specific submission requirements.  Thank you for your interest in the Maryland Law Review.

The Maryland Law Review is published four times per year by the students of the University of Maryland School of Law. We welcome submissions from judges, professors, practitioners, law clerks, and law students.

We seek manuscripts that are well-written and contain original arguments designed to make a meaningful contribution to legal scholarship as well as the general practice of law.

ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS

We strongly encourage authors to submit their work electronically. Electronic manuscripts receive our fastest consideration. Electronic submissions are accepted exclusively via the ExpressO online submission service. Please note that we do not accept articles submitted via e-mail.

PAPER SUBMISSIONS

Alternatively, you may submit a hard copy of your manuscript to the Maryland Law Review. Please do not submit your manuscript by mail if you have already submitted it electronically. Please address all paper submissions to:

Maryland Law Review
Attn: Manuscripts Editor
500 West Baltimore Street, Suite 406
Baltimore, Maryland 21201
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
All submissions should include:
  1. A cover letter containing the title of the manuscript, a word count for the manuscript (including footnotes), and the author's e-mail address, mailing address, and daytime telephone number;
  2. A resume or curriculum vitae;
  3. A brief abstract of the manuscript; and
  4. A copy of the manuscript.
SUBMISSION FORMAT
  • Submissions should be printed on one side of the page only, double-spaced, written in Times 11 or larger sized font, and have numbered pages. For electronic submissions, the Maryland Law Review requires manuscripts to appear in Microsoft Word (.doc) or Adobe PDF (.pdf) format.
  • Citations in manuscripts should appear in footnotes (not endnotes) and should conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (18th ed. 2005).
  • We will consider submissions of all lengths; however, strong preference is given to manuscripts of fewer than 25,000 words (including text and footnotes).
TIMING

The Maryland Law Review carefully considers all manuscript submissions on a rolling basis. Although we accept articles year-round, we encourage authors to submit manuscripts from August through May.
