The National Trial Team holds tryouts each spring; first-year day students, first-year evening students transferring to the day program, and second-year evening students are invited to join. In round one, each student is provided with a trial packet and presents a closing argument to the team. Some students are called back for round two, in which they prepare a cross examination. The new members are chosen by the existing team under the guidance of Professor and Coach Jerome Deise.
For 2012 tryouts, interested students are required to attend one of three mandatory sessions to be held on March 5th at 12:00 pm, March 8th at 5:00 pm, and March 9th at 1:00 pm. All three of the informational sessions will be held in the Ceremonial Courtroom.
The first round of tryouts will take place on April 5th and 6th. Each student will have the opportunity to sign up for his or her time slot. The second round of tryouts will take place on April 13th. Again, each student who advances to the second round will have the opportunity to choose his or her tryout time.
The case being used for the Spring 2012 tryouts is a criminal case. All sides will be representing the prosecution. Email with questions directed to Jescie Bohbot and Ashley Sharif.
