2012-2013 National Trial Team - A Successful Year
The National Trial Team is a for-credit student organization that is comprised of students who have demonstrated exceptional ability in trial advocacy. The Program Director is Jerome Deise and the Head Coach A.J. Bellido de Luna. More than fifteen alumni of the program support the team as coaches and travel with the team to various competitions. The program consists of a classroom component with lectures and practical exercises, as well as a team component with trial practices and trial competitions. During the weekends, the students hone their trial skills by conducting full length trials in front of local district court judges, circuit court judges, and experienced attorneys. The team members learn evidence, trial planning, effective examinations, and persuasive oral argument skills. The National Trial Team program has an exceptional reputation, placing among the top schools at numerous trial competitions all across the country. For the past two years, U.S. News & World Reports has ranked the National Trial Team as one of the top programs in the United States.
