Advocacy is the art of persuasion - and so much more. Whether it's as a lawyer, a government leader, a CEO or the head of a not-for-profit organization, being an effective advocate on behalf of clients and vital issues is critical to a successful legal career.
The University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law's advocacy offerings are designed to help students develop all the skills they need to be great advocates - effective writing, persuasive presentation, intellectual flexibility, and the ability to anticipate the other side's argument.
We offer intensive coursework, clinical experiences, and a chance to participate in a rich array of trial and appellate advocacy competitions. Our faculty are joined by leading trial lawyers and judges to offer students experiences that will enhance their knowledge, skills and confidence.
