On January 13th, more than 300 people attended Avian Flu: What Can We Do?
a conference organized by the University of Maryland Center for Health and Homeland Security
. The conference focused on what may be the most serious public health threat in decades -- the onset of a pandemic influenza. Led by Law School Professor and Center Director, Michael Greenberger
, the program brought together expert researchers, academics, public ehalth officials, mediacl care providers, hospital officials, attorneys, and pharmaceutical manufacturers to give their assessment of critical issues pertaining to a threatened pandemic and to recommend realistic and practical countermeasures and strategies that could effectively be deployed to fight a pandemic.
