The Hon. Sherri D. Koch ‘93 and The Hon. Marina L. Sabbet ‘90 were appointed to the Montgomery County District Court by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan on December 21.
“These individuals have demonstrated an exceptional understanding of our legal process and a firm commitment to upholding the law. I am confident that they will be strong advocates for justice in our state,” said Governor Hogan in a press release.
Koch, who has spent her entire legal career in Montgomery County, was formerly the senior prosecutor in the Special Victims Unit of the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office and an assistant state’s attorney for Montgomery County.
Sabbet has spent time both in the private and public sectors, most recently as an administrative law judge with the Office of Administrative Hearing since 2010. Prior to that, she spent more than a decade as a litigator for Venable, LLP.
“We are committed to producing the next generation of great leaders on the bench and the bar, and are extremely excited about the Governor’s recent appointment of Sherri Koch and Marina Sabbet to the District Court.” said Dean Donald Tobin. “We are proud of Judges Koch and Sabbet and wish them well as they serve the people of Montgomery County.”
Also appointed to the Montgomery County Bench was The Hon. Rand L Gelber.
