On Halloween night from 6 - 9 p.m., Westminster Burying Ground and Catacombs welcomes the public for a unique night of history and Halloween fun.
Guests are invited to celebrate Halloween with an annual tour of the Catacombs, a Baltimore tradition for over 30 years.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Students with a UMB ID receive a $1 discount. Reservations are not required.
The tour features the following:
UM Carey Law is in a unique position in that it shares a city block with Westminster Hall and Burying Ground. The burying ground dates to 1786 and the hall, then Westminster Presbyterian Church, was constructed in 1852.
In 1979, after the church closed two years prior, the law school formed the Westminster Preservation Trust (WPT), a non-profit organization which was charged with management of the affairs, business, and propery.
The deteriorating propery was restored by the WPT in 1983 and this historical Baltimore landmark is still open to the public on a daily basis. The Victorian style church is used for many UM Carey Law events, and is available for public events, such as coporate gatherings and weddings.
