***Note that this room, as do all large classrooms,
enables a speaker, lecturer or presenter to self-tape his/her presentation by
using the equipment in the A/V closet, and choosing the Record VCR (instead
of the Playback VCR), under the “Equipment Control” function. Self-taping
only requires that a VHS tape be placed in the Record VCR and that the presenter
starts it by pressing the “Record” button on the lectern’s
touch-screen.Video projectors take 2 minutes to warm up.
- Projection of video and computer images on two front-mounted screens.
- Document camera (Elmo®) in the lectern.
- VHS player, VHS recorder Audio Cassette recorder and DVD player in A/V
closet.
- Desktop Computer in lectern. Images from local computer disk drives (to
include CDs and DVDs). Images from network/Internet.
- Laptop hookups in the lectern.
- Central Control Room – or self-enabled video/audio/recording.
- Speech reinforcement (PA) system.
- Video recording of proceedings.
- Wireless and hardwired desk microphones for speakers; ceiling-mounted microphones
for students and audience.
- Assistive Devices: Augmented listening system.
- Wireless keyboard and mouse for remote use of lectern computer.
- Lighting control available from wall-mounted switches.
Instructions for the Most-used Features in This Room:
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter pass code given to you by Media Services
then, touch System Power ON.
- Touch Select Source then, touch Document Camera.
Screen comes down and projector comes on.
- Open the lectern’s side drawer and turn Document Camera on. The Camera’s
power button is on it’s back panel.
- Lift camera’s arm carefully and rotate camera towards panel.
- Adjust lights by gyrating them (left-hand light will gyrate, but will not
separate from the camera’s main arm).
- Place your document or object on panel and press Auto-Focus
button.
- Zoom in by pressing Tele or Zoom out by pressing Wide.
- You may use the manual focus on the remote control of the camera if necessary.
The remote control must be pointed towards the camera’s arm in order
to function properly.
- When completed, turn camera off, fold carefully, (camera arm will be locked
into place, to unlock push camera arm as far back as it will go then then
fold arm forward until even with tray.)
- To turn off system choose Main Menu and then touch system power
Off. At warning prompt, turn the power off by choosing Yes.
- Log onto the PC in the Lectern and bring up document, PowerPoint® presentation
or website you wish to present.(Note: You can use wired or wireless keyboard
& mouse in the room.)
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter pass code given to you by Media Services
then, touch SYSTEM POWER ON.
- Touch Select Source then, touch PC Lectern. Screen
comes down and projector comes on.
- If necessary, touch Volume Control then, adjust Program
Volume to desired level.
- When completed, log off computer.
- To turn off system choose Main Menu and then touch system power
Off. At warning prompt, turn the power off by touching Yes.
- Plug-in your laptop to the VGA cable stored in the lectern.
- Connect the other end of the VGA cable to the connector on the right side
of the lectern marked input #2.
- Connect ethernet cable to LAN if needed.
- Connect audio cable if needed.
- Turn on your laptop and bring up document, PowerPoint® presentation
or website you wish to present.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services
then, touch System Power on.
- Touch Select Source then, touch PC Lectern. Screen
comes down and projector comes on.
- Where VGA cable is connected to lectern press button so the #2 is lit green.
(If light does not change make sure computer's is sending a signal, for Dell's®
hold down FN key and press F8, this should give you a picture.)
- If necessary, touch Volume Control then, adjust Program
Volume to desired level.
- When completed, disconnect laptop. Return the Extron® Box input to Number
1.
- To turn off system choose Main Menu and then touch SYSTEM POWER
OFF. At warning prompt, turn the power off by touching Yes.
- The VHS player, is marked as such, and is located in this room’s
A/V closet. Go over to A/V closet and insert VHS tape. Now, return to the
lectern.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services
then, touch System Power on.
- Touch Select Source then, touch VCR Playback. Screen
comes down and projector comes on.
- Touch Equipment Control then, touch Video Cassette
then, touch VCR Playback.
- Press stop button first (this engages AMX® to control VCR). Then use
appropriate controls.
- To view cable television use up/down arrows on VCR to set channel.
- When completed, touch Stop then, touch Rewind
then, go to A/V closet and eject tape when playback is complete.
- To turn off system choose Main Menu and then touch system power
Off. At warning prompt, turn the power off by touching Yes.
- The DVD player, is marked as such, and located in this room’s A/V
closet.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services
then, touch System Power on.
- Touch Select Source then, touch DVD. Screen comes
down and projector comes on.
- Go to A/V closet and insert DVD. Now, return to the lectern.
- Choose Equipment Control then, DVD then, use appropriate
controls.
- When completed, Go to A/V closet and eject DVD when playback is complete.
Please close drawer.
- To turn off system touch Main Menu then, touch system power
Off. At warning prompt, turn the power off by touching Yes.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services
then, touch SYSTEM POWER ON.
- Touch Volume Control then, under Speech Volume touch
Preset.
- Insert VHS tape into Record VCR in A/V closet. Confirm that
A1 shows next to the counter.
- At lectern or in A/V closet video camera touch Equipment Control
then, touch Camera. You will now be able to adjust the camera
shot. (Note: you should primarily rely on presets for particular shot however,
the camera can be adjust to any position manually.
- At lectern touch Equipment Control then, touch Video Cassette
then, touch Record VCR.
- Touch Stop button, then touch Fixed Camera.
- Touch Record button when ready to start recording.
- When recording is completed, touch Stop then, touch Rewind
button if desired and eject video tape at A/V closet.
- To turn off system touch Main Menu then, touch system power
Off. At warning prompt, turn the power off by touching Yes.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services
then, touch System Power on.

Touch Volume Control then, under Speech
Volume touch Preset.

Insert Audio Cassette tape into Audio Tape Recorder
in A/V closet.

Press Record button on audio cassette deck when
ready to start recording.

When recording is over, press Stop then, press
Rewind button if desired and eject audio tape at A/V closet.

To turn off system touch Main Menu then, touch
SYSTEM POWER OFF. At warning prompt, turn the power off by touching
YES.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services
then, touch SYSTEM POWER ON.
- Touch Volume Control.
- Under Speech Volume touch Preset or adjust volume
up or down to a comfortable level.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services
then, touch SYSTEM POWER ON.
- Touch Select Source then touch CD Player.
- Go into A/V closet put CD in CD player.
- At lectern touch Equipment Control then touch CD Player.

Use controls on screen to operate CD Player and set volume.
- Contact Media Services to send your desired A/V source to the room.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services
then, touch SYSTEM POWER ON.
- Touch Select Source then, touch A/V from CCR.
- Touch Volume Control and set Program Volume to a
comfortable level.
- When completed, choose Main Menu then, touch system power Off
then, touch Yes at warning prompt.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services
then, touch System Power on.
- Touch Equipment Control
- Touch Video Projectors
- Touch either ON, OFF, or mute picture.
- (Note: Should only use to turn off or mute projector while still wanting
to use other function of system.)
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services.
- Touch Environment
- Touch to either bring screen up or down or to open or close blackout shades.
(Note: Should only use screens this way for overhead projection.)
- When completed, choose MAIN MENU then, touch SYSTEM POWER OFF
then, touch YES at warning prompt.
NOTE: Blackout shade controls & projection screen control are
available both from wall-mounted switches and from the lectern touchscreen
under the ENVIRONMENT heading.
