Bekman Court Room (Room 202)
***Note that arrangements for
taping in this room must be made a week in advance in order to
have a Media Technician operate the cameras and audio from the
Central Control Room. Arrangements must be made in advance in
order to use the Timing Light Systems. There is no PA system in
this room. Projectors take approximately 2 minutes to warm up.
- Projection of video and computer images on front and/or side-mounted screens.
- Document camera (Elmo®) in the lectern.
- VHS player, VHS recorder, Audio Cassette recorder and DVD player in AV
closet.
- Desktop Computer in lectern. Images from local computer disk drives (to
include CDs and DVDs). Images from network/Internet.
- Laptop hookups for lectern and/or at attorney's desks.
- Central Control Room-enabled video/audio recording.
- Intercom and signaling system to provide communications between Control
Room and Courtroom.
- Video recording of proceedings.
- Wireless lavaliere and hardwired desk microphones for speakers; ceiling-mounted
microphones for students and audience
- Timing light system for presenters, advising of time remaining.
- Assistive Devices: Augmented listening system.
- Wireless keyboard and mouse for remote use of lectern computer.
- Lighting control available from wall-mounted switches.
Instructions for Most-used Features in This Room:
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter pass code given to you by Media Services
then, touch System Power on.
- Touch Select Source.
- Touch screen(s) to display image(Main Projector and/or Exhibit Project).
- Touch Document Camera, screen(s) comes down and projector(s)
comes on.
- Open the lectern’s side drawer and turn Document Camera on. The Camera’s
power button is on it’s back panel.
- Lift camera’s arm carefully and rotate camera towards panel.
- Adjust lights by gyrating them (left-hand light will gyrate, but will not
separate from the camera’s main arm).
- Place your document or object on panel and press Auto-Focus
button.
- Zoom in by pressing Tele or zoom out by pressing Wide.
- You may use the manual focus on the remote control of the camera if necessary.
The remote control must be pointed towards the camera’s arm in order
to function properly.
- When completed, turn camera off, fold carefully, (camera arm will be locked
into place, to unlock push camera arm as far back as it will go then then
fold arm forward until even with tray.)
- To turn off system choose Main Menu and then touch system power
Off. At warning prompt, turn the power off by choosing Yes.
- Log onto the PC in the Lectern and bring up document, PowerPoint® presentation
or website you wish to present.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter pass code given to you by Media Services
then, touch System Power on.
- Touch Select Source.
- Touch screen(s) to display image(Main Projector and/or Exhibit Project).
- Touch PC Lectern then, screen(s) comes down and projector(s)
comes on.
- If there is no picture after 30 seconds switch Extron® toggle switch
box from 2 to 1. (Extron® box is located on the left hand side of the
lectern.)
- If necessary, touch Volume Control then, adjust Program
Volume to desired level.
- When completed, log off computer.
- To turn off system choose Main Menu and then touch system power
Off. At warning prompt, turn the power off by touching Yes.
- Plug-in your laptop to the VGA cable stored in the lectern.
- Connect the other end of the VGA cable to the connector on the right side
of the lectern.
- Connect ethernet cable to LAN if needed.
- Turn on your laptop and bring up document, PowerPoint® presentation
or website you wish to present.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services
then, touch System Power on.
- Touch Select Source.
- Touch screen(s) to display image(Main Projector and/or Exhibit Project).
- Touch PC Lectern, screen(s) comes down and projector(s) comes
on.
- On the Extron® Box located on the left hand side of the lectern, use
toggle switch and choose input Number 2. If there is no image, confirm that
laptop VGA output is turned on.
- If necessary, touch Volume Control then, adjust Program
Volume to desired level.
- When completed, disconnect laptop. Return the Extron® Box input to Number
1.
- To turn off system choose Main Menu and then touch system power
Off. At warning prompt, turn the power off by touching Yes.
- Under each attorney table there is a floor box with a VGA connection. Left
side is PC Attorney 1, right side is PC Attorney 2 (facing judges).
- Connect laptop to the VGA cable from lectern and connect ether network
cable to LAN if needed.
- Turn on your laptop and bring up document, PowerPoint® presentation
or website you wish to present.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services
then, touch System Power on.
- Touch Select Source.
- Touch screen(s) to display image(Main Projector and/or Exhibit Project).
- Touch PC Attorney 1 or PC Attorney 2 then, screen(s) comes down
and projector(s) comes on.
- If necessary, touch Volume Control then, adjust Program
Volume to desired level.
- When completed, disconnect laptop. Return the Extron® Box input to Number
1.
- To turn off system choose Main Menu and then touch system power
Off. At warning prompt, turn the power off by touching Yes.
- The VHS player, is marked as such, and is located in the control room.
Go over to the control room and give tape to technician to insert into VHS
deck. Now, return to the lectern.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services
then, touch System Power on.
- Touch Select Source.
- Touch screen(s) to display image(Main Projector and/or Exhibit Project).
- Touch VCR Playback then, screen(s) comes down and projector(s)
comes on.
- Touch Equipment Control then, touch Video Cassette
then, touch VCR Playback.
- Press stop button first (this engages AMX® to control VCR). Then use
appropriate controls.
- To view cable television use up/down arrows to set channel on VCR.
- When completed, touch Stop then, touch Rewind
then, go to the control room and retrieve tape.
- To turn off system choose Main Menu and then touch system power
Off. At warning prompt, turn the power off by touching Yes.
- The DVD player, is marked as such, and located in the control room.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services
then, touch System Power on.
- Touch Select Source.
- Touch screen(s) to display image(Main Projector and/or Exhibit Project).
- Touch DVD Player then, screen(s) comes down and projector(s)
comes on.
- Go to the control room and give DVD to technician to insert into DVD player.
Now return to the lectern.
- Choose Equipment Control then, DVD then, use appropriate
controls.
- When completed, Go to the control room, touch stop and retrieve the DVD.
- To turn off system touch Main Menu then, touch system power
Off. At warning prompt, turn the power off by touching Yes.
- Contact Media Services to send your desired A/V source to the room.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media Services
then, touch System Power on.
- Touch Select Source.
- Touch screen(s) to display image(Main Projector and or Exhibit Project).
- Touch A/V from CCR then, screen(s) comes down and projector(s)
comes on.
- Touch Volume Control and set Program Volume to a
comfortable level.
- When completed, choose Main Menu then, touch system power Off
then, touch Yes at warning prompt.
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media technician
then, touch System Power on.
- Touch Equipment Control
- Touch Video Projectors
- Touch either On, Off, or mute picture.
- (Note: Should only use to turn off or mute projector while still wanting
to use other function of system.)
- At touch-screen on lectern, enter password given to you by Media technician.
- Touch Environment
- Touch to either bring screen up or down or to choose a specific lighting
scheme. (Note: Should only use screens this way for overhead projection.)
- When completed, choose Main Menu then, touch system power Off
then, touch Yes at warning prompt.
NOTE: Lighting control available both from wall-mounted switches and
from the lectern touchscreen.
